Locking up Laptop

Postby Drew345 » Sun Apr 14, 2013 3:00 am

I am going to camp a few days in Yosemite this summer without a car. I'll go by bus and take the valley buses around. I'll probably have tons of questions before I go (yes, I've been there a few times before), but right now I have a laptop security question.
Do the bear storage bins lock? As in lock with a padlock so another person can't get it? I am a bit worried about security for my laptop since I won't have a car. Think I can lock it up in the bear bin? I have one night reserved in Upper pines for the first night, then I will try the "unclaimed reservations" and "camp 4 walkins" for the next nights. Probably will stay 4-7 days all in all.
Actually it is more of a "net-book" than a laptop, but I would rather not carry it on any major hikes if I could get out of it. Would prefer to lock it up and go.
Thanks for any info or tips on camping without a car. Looks really doable, so I am excited to try this.

If the campsite you are in is not shared (ala Camp 4 where they pack you in like sardines) and you are not sharing the bear box with others, there is a spot for a padlock on the bear lockers. A cabin in curry or housekeeping, or a campsite in one of the campgrounds, gets you your own locker.

Alternately there are lockers in Curry - or there were - where you can lock up stuff for a while.
