In need of tent space 7/26

Postby drb1966 » Wed May 18, 2016 3:16 pm

I'm getting into the valley July 26 around noon 30 by way of the YART which is more than likely too late to get into Camp 4 for the night. I'm attempting to get a FCFS JMT permit out of Lyell Canyon, but wanted to day hike the section from LYV to Lyell Canyon (no camping). If Camp 4 is totally pointless what if anything is available in Tuolumne Meadows? Thanks for any info you can pass on

Arriving by bus or on foot, you can use the backpacker's camps in either/both Yosemite Valley or up at Tuolumne. Camp 4 is a nightmare, the backpacker's camp is up by North Pines and is much, much nicer.

AlmostThere should be able to give you the specific regulations on how it works without a permit in hand yet.
