Leading a group of 12 along the North Rim and planned on staying at the Tenaya Lake Campground one night. Now I see that it is long longer there. I was hoping we could enjoy the day there and take a dip in the lake, so I would like to camp near by. Is there anywhere nearby where we could camp? We are permitted.

Wilderness camping needs to be at least a mile from any road, and for some trailheads, there is a specific distance from the trailhead within which camping is illegal. This is a question for the rangers ultimately but - there is nowhere within a mile of the highway that is legal camping, so nowhere near Tenaya Lake at all, period. Cathedral Lakes or Sunrise Lakes, or any other lake within the wilderness and more than a mile from the road, sure.
