need two night for camping in Tuoulmne.....

Postby centurycyclist » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:46 pm

We have reservations for the 29th and 30th at Sunrise HSC (to hike Cloud's Rest) but can't seem to get a campsite for Tuoulmne for the 27th and 28th to acclimate to altitiude---we live at sea level. We are already planning to get on the road at 4 AM, to get there early, but earlier than that is NOT safe on the 395. Any ideas? Any one not using their tent site? We would like to drive in, and unload, but would be OK with a short walk. We'll take just about anything.

If you have reservations for HSC does that mean you have a wilderness permit? because if you have a wilderness permit you can stay in the backpacker campground for five bucks per person. No reservation needed.

the other places to stay might be the campgrounds at Saddlebag and Ellery just outside the Tioga gate.
