As of Friday, they're pushing up on Porcupine Creek, having made 4.4 miles in 3 days with 8-10 ft of cover. No specific date set for opening, but, based on past dates with similar conditions, they're anticipating a late June- early July. More a point of curiosity than a case of planning, yet.
The plows are close to Tenaya Lake, but will have to pause for a few days due to avalanche risk just beyond Olmsted Point. My Jun 14 prediction is looking optimistic...
Still probably about 15 miles to go to the Tioga Pass entry station. Tenaya Lake is at ~ 8200 ft and still largely frozen over from the photo. You can also see the west slope of Tenaya Peak up to ~ 9000 ft in the same photo...still lots of snow. So when the road opens, count on being able to drive it, but not necessarily hike without some postholing involved for quite some time yet. For some idea of how that's going to go, here's the link to wilderness conditions: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/wildcond.htm
The Park crew met the Caltrans crew from Lee Vining and shook hands at Tioga Pass yesterday, so at least one milestone has been reached - there's an open lane for the work crews at least. Seems like it will be another week or two before its actually opened to regular traffic though.
