Trip Report - Ansel Adams Wilderness

Postby LVRAY » Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:54 am

Just got back from a trip in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. If you haven't been to this area, which is just southeast of Yosemite, I would highly recommend it. We did the Minaret-Cecile-Iceberg-Ediza-Shadow Lake loop (with a side trip to Nydiver Lakes), starting at Devils Post Pile and ending in Agnew Meadows. A fairly short trip, but with some great cross country parts and fantastic lakes. Cecile & Iceberg are absolutely beautiful. For the end of July, still lots of snow and mosquitos (even in the higher elevations).

Cecile Lake - still a lot of snow around:

Cecile Lake - still partially frozen. We camped in the clump of trees at the far side of the lake:

Looking down on Iceberg Lake - even more frozen:

Ritter Range above Iceberg Lake:

Iceberg Lake - the cross country route down from Cecile Lake goes through the gap across the lake and then down and across the snow fields (from right to left in the photo):

Shadow Lake - very buggy, but pretty:
