Valley View or Tunnel View for sunset photography in july?

Hi,

I'm travelling to Yosemite Valley for a few days in mid-July and am having a hard time picking locations for sunsets in the valley. Would Valley View or Tunnel View be best for sunset photography? At the moment I'm leaning towards Valley View simply because there's more depth in the view, what with the river, rocks, plants and granite cliffs, but I'd like to know what others would do.

Thanks!

If you're there for a few days, why choose only one?

Sunset colors will often depend on atmospheric conditions at any given time. Although, I realize you are asking about sunsets, I can say that Tunnel View is quite predictably good for sunrises at that time of the year. Something you might want to consider if you don't mind getting up early. You can see an example of this in a time lapse film I posted a link to in a post a few posts down from yours.

Also, don't leave too early. Sometimes there are several phases of colors at sunset. So I might look liek the show is over, but then mother nature puts on a new color filter and wows you all over again. :)
