Hi,

I am planning to visit Yosemite in May 30th, 2010.

Can I see or play around snow in Yosemite?

Do I need to have snow chains for 4 wheel drive SUV?

Thanks...

For road and other conditions see this webpage:
http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/conditions.htm

Chains may be required if it storms. I doubt that that will happen--especially severe enough for a 4WD SUV. Make sure the tires are rated Mud and Snow Tires (have "M+S" stamped on the tire sidewall).

The Glacier Point and Tioga Roads are closed now. My guess is at least the Glacier Point Road will be open by then. Both roads will have snow on the roadside.

Yes you will be able to see and play in snow. It is snowing tonight up at elevation and there is still a good base so go up to Crane Flat and you will have your hearts desire. You will not need chains on the 30th, what little snow, compared to the winter, they will get this week will be cleared/melted by then on the roads.
