I am soliciting opinions on a trip I might take next weekend. We normally camp in the valley for a few days each summer however next year I have been thinking about going north to Toulomne Meadows with my kids. My thought is that I might take a quick trip next weekend up the 395, stop one night at Convict lake then take a left turn at Lee Vining and follow the road scouting the scenery and camping spots. Perhaps a night in TM at a campground. then on to one night in the valley before heading home. I have never been this way so this would be a scouting trip before next summer. Of course I have no reservation so I would be hoping for vacancies.

You should be able to find plenty of spots available in the TM campground, as well as the smaller campgrounds outside the park. It is usually pretty quite up there after Labor day.
