Geology in Yosemite

Postby tonyfarley » Sat Jun 18, 2011 8:39 am

I am embarking on a Summer of learning the geology of Yosemite. As I do this, I am visiting different sites that I learn about. My first visit was to the El Capitan recessional moraine in the valley that has exposed boulders of Cathedral Peak Granite on it. The nearest Cathedral Peak granite is over 12 miles away, meaning these boulders were all transported by the glacier that created the moraine.
