Hello! So glad I found this forum, thank you in advance for all of your help. At the very last minute we are able to attend a wedding, and are trying to make the most of our time in Yosemite while we're there. The wedding is at Cherry Lake, and after that we will have a few days to spend time in Yosemite. Being that it's last minute, I know a lot of permits are full for certain trailheads and campgrounds are booked.

What would you recommend for two moderate to advanced hikers, from the dates of 6/24-47? Is there any place we can still camp? We don't necessarily need to hike or overnight backpack, but of course it would be a really fun way to see the park.

Thank you!

You're right in that last minute planning isn't the best place to be coming from. Toward the end of June there will be some campgrounds open, most still not, so your options will be limited in that regard. If you either hike in for one trip of several days or see different areas as several overnighters, you also have to take into consideration that with each wilderness permit you get, you also have one night immediately beforehand and one night immediately afterward at one of the backpackers campgrounds that are open; Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, White Wolf. Hmmmm? ....little of this, little of that.

Now, as far as those permits and the routes go: the more popular ones will also be in high demand at the end of June, but that doesn't mean that all the good ones are gone. Plus, there's always walk-ups. Your primary trailheads to consider for availability, views, relative ease of access, etc, are going to be along the north rim, and a few select trailheads, all along Tioga Rd and/or out of Tuolumne Meadows.

Have a look at this list of full trailheads, First, find the ones with reserved spaces available, then start researching by name and what they offer. One other thing to remember is, in almost all cases, there are camping restrictions on minimum distances from roads, trailheads, campgrounds, etc that range from a mile up to several miles, so know how that applies to where you're going.
