When I was a kid I remember staying on the valley floor, in a very primitive cabin, during winter with my Boy Scout troop. There was about 10 of us in the group. Like to do the same with my sons troop but am having a hard time finding similar accommodations. Do they still exist? If not, any suggestions? Thank you.

Probably either Housekeeping Camp or Curry Village - both have tent cabins. Go to yosemitepark.com to check what the concessionaire has available - if you want reservations this year, it's probably too late as they go fast and five months in advance.

Pretty sure it was Curry Village. I did see the the tent cabins but they seemed to small to fit the 10 people I wanted to put in one. The cabin I remember staying in was definitely solid construction and set up with multiple bunk beds and not much else. I will continue to look though. Thank you.

Those are going to be all you'll find in the Valley. The Lodge has apartments and rooms, and the Ahwahnee is a luxury hotel. All other overnight spots are campgrounds.
