March Backbacking Questions

We're planning a trip in Yosemite from March 7th-14th. Is it possible to hike north from Mariposa Grove to the Yosemite Valley. On a map it looks like we'd have to go from Mariposa Grove to Wawona, then to Bridalveil Campground, then onto Dewey point and down to Wawona Tunnel. Is any/all of this passable at this time of year? If so, would snowshoes be needed?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you'll get lost. The trails are not visible under the snow. It is a multi-day trip even if you can find the way. You'll need cross-country skis and you need to know how to use them in the backcountry. Using snowshoes would take twice as long ifyou make it at all.

Many people snowshoe for the day or for multiple days starting from Badger Pass Ski Area. There's a free shuttle bus that leaves in the morning from Yosemite Valley hotels. You don't need a lift ticket go use it--anyone can go. This assumes the ski area is still open by them (it probably will be open).

thanks for the advice. we are going to be there that whole week, I was wondering what parts you suggest would be best to fill up that time? can you get down to the valley from badger pass or is it best just to hike out and back from there and then take the shuttle back down? In the valley are there more trails open? are any of the long multiday trails visible at this time?
