My husband and two children are planning a trip to the US and hope to visit Yosemite National Park towards end of March/beginning April. Is it too late to go skiing? Can you hire ski clothing and equipment locally? What is the cost of a ski pass? Any information gratefully received, thank you.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $25 for a half day. Children are $18, $15 for a half day.

Ski and lodging packages are available from the concessionairre at www.yosemitepark.com. They have lodging in Yosemite Valley and Wawona, besides operating Badger Pass.

Skis, boots, and poles can be rented at Badger Pass, but not clothing.

There is a free ski bus that starts from all the hotels in Yosemite Valley and heads to Badger Pass. That saves the trouble and danger of driving up yourself.

The ski area usually closes in April, but it varies from year to year. Last year, it closed April 11, 2004. So far, the year has been pretty good. February is the best month for skiing.
