Am planning a trip to California this March and was wondering if anyone knows of any guides that will lead trips into Yosemite for backpacking/snow camping, etc.?? Or is it possible to do it on your own?

In March, it's basically still snow camping in the backcountry. Most people ski or snowshoe from the Badger Pass Ski Area and walk in on the (closed) Glacier Point Road. The concessionaire, YCS, offers overnight ski trips to Glacier Point with a guide.

Some people hike or snowshoe into Little Yosemite Valley. There was a rockslide on the John Muir Trail recently that has practically closed that option for now.

The Yosemite Association, http://yosemite.org/ offers guided trips with a naturalist, including some ski and snowshoe trips.

Rangers offer a daily snowshoe trip from Badger Pass Ski Area, but it's only for a few hours.

The park concessionaire has guies for hire, through either their guide service or cross-country ski school. See www.yosemite.com for contact information.

You can always do this stuff on your own. It's more fun and safer if you can cajole someone to go with you in Winter.
