I am hoping to spend my 40th birthday (March 27th) doing a 3-4 day hike in Yosemite. The plan was to camp; however I have only visited Yosemite once ,and have never "snowcamped" nor snowshoed. Is it too early in the year to do a regular hiking trip without specialist gear in any part of the park? If so, I may have to award myself an "official" birthday at a better time. Is there an ideal time to do such a trip?

Thanks

March has lots of snow. Try June - September. Or, August-September if you don't like mosquitoes.

In March, the lows are around freezing. They can get down to the 20s F, but usually not in March.

You need waterproof boots as there will be snowdrifts on the trail and your boots will get wet.

I don't know what rehaulr hiking shoes are.
