I have never been to Hetch Hetchy and I am planning a short overnight trip to Smith Peak at the end of May. What's the trail condition right now? Is there any water crossing? Are the meadow flooded? Snow on the top?
How about the Lake Vernon-Rancheria Fall loop? Snow around Vernon? Is the valley flooded?

I appreciate any information. Thanks!

Grace

where is smith peak?

it's been cold, so things probably haven't changed too much in the last ten days. kibbie lake was frozen over ten days ago

and vernon is about the same elevation. the snow line was pretty abrupt at 6500', and around five feet deep or more past that elevation.

somebody recently described tilltill valley as a pond.

uh... it's north of 120...

so it's in Yosemite.. lol

Depending on which way you go you may have to cross a couple
streams. If you go from HH entrance, then yes. (Cottonwood Creek +
Creek by Smith Meadow)
If you go from the actual Simth Peak TH then no.

Snow? This year... you gotta expect snow. Definitely on the
peak and quite a bit below it. It's just been quite the year
for late snow...
