Hi Dan
Terrific site!

I'm heading to Yosemite Valley in a week. How would Tenaya Creek be for fly fishing? Happy Isles? Not looking for big fish, just trout for the fun of catch and release.

Have you seen trout in any other bodies of water in Yosemite.
I've heard the creek above the Wawona Hotel is fair.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Gene

You've got me--I don't fish. I understand that the fishing is poor on the Valley floor, although I've seen trout from the bridges.

Here's an old list of all the lakes and streams in Yosemite with fishing notes.
It's old, but it still could be a general guide:

Anyone have any insider tips on trout hunting in the Yosemite area? I'm aware of the single-barbless-hook regulation, and the catch/release and/or limit regs throughout the area. We're interested in both the Merced (El Portal area) and the high country (Tuolumne Meadows and/or Lyell Fork).

Thanks!

Tuolumne Meadows--Sunrise Lakes (Easy 3 mile hike from Tenaya Lake). Great fishing for 1+ pound brookies--absolutely beautiful fish! Evening/early morning dry fly action as well as emerger patterns. Plenty of good camping areas for overnight trips.
