Are there any hiking groups or orgs that you know of? Thanks.

Just wanted to invite hiking & camping enthusiasts to visit the websites for the nonprofit organization Coastwalk:
www.coastwalk.org
and www.californiacoastaltrail.org

Coastwalk is a nonprofit Hiking & Camping organization in California. Our mission is to complete the creation and insignia posting of the 1,200 mile California Coastal Trail (CCT)--the CCT is a footpath that stretches from the borders of CA/Oregon to CA/Mexico. The Coastwalk organization actively advocates for public access to all of the beaches throughout California.

The CCT footpath is approximately 80% complete, much of this trail runs along sandy beaches, coastal bluffs and along coastal mountain ranges. Another portion of the CCT passes through more urban areas, where Coastwalk assists in the creation of public parks and pathways along a shoreline area. These urban pathways are officially part of the CCT, and offers the public the opportunity to recreate where there was once no public access.

Our organization leads fun, educational hiking & camping trips along the CCT each summer, and many day hikes throughout the year, in each of the 15 California coastal counties. Our programs are all (expertly) volunteer run, and have been since 1983!

Coastwalk trips are extremely affordable GUIDED hiking and camping adventures along California's coastal trail. Our variety of hiking/camping trips are suitable for individuals, families, and grandparent/grandchild participants. Some Coastwalk trips offer more rugged backpacking opportunities, for example Coastwalk offers a 4-8 day backpack through Northern California's Lost Coast, and some trips offer comfy amenities each night. Many of our trips offer nightly camping under the stars, in coastal & preserve areas, some of these camping opportunities are made available only to the Coastwalk organization.

If you're looking for some new hiking opportunities with other outdoor lovin' folks, then you might just want to checkout the schedule for the 2006 Coastwalk adventures. www.coastwalk.org
Happy Hiking!

Coastwalk is a California state-wide organization. Our office is located in Sebastopol, CA.
