I'm trying to figure out how to minimize pack weight for a September hike from Toulumne Meadows through to Silver Lake on the PCT and John Muir Trail. What are the chances of rain and mosquitoes at these elevations and this time of the year?

September is still pretty dry, although you can get afternoon thunderstorms just like you get earlier in Summer.

Mosquitoes are minimal as everything as dried up and it's getting slightly cooler. You can still find some some next to lakes and streams in the evening.
