Ribbon Falls base

Are hikers allowed to visit the base of Ribbon Falls in Yosemite Valley? Is it ethical to visit Ribbon Falls base if there are no hiking trails there?

I've been to the base of Ribbon Falls. There are use trails all over the valley floor, leading up to the granite walls, that climbers use and that is no exception.

Ethical and responsible off trail hiking is very small groups, hiking not single file but spread out so as not to create use trails and trample plants to death.

It's steep, a little treacherous if you go the wrong way. I'm not going to post directions on the public web pages -- selfish people abound and some places are too special to publicize to the idiots who can't understand that their behavior can be destructive. But since you are clearly concerned for the environment and not likely to do that, you can PM me for details.
