Merced Lake HSC - meals?

Postby tucotuco » Thu Aug 04, 2016 4:59 am

Hi Everybody,
I planned the Red Pick Pass loop the in coming weeks and I have a question for you experts:

since we will be passing by Merced Lake Camp, I was wandering if it is possible to have dinner and if there are shopping possibilities (fruits,vegetables...).
I checked on the web but I do not understand if the meal service is available only for camp guests or also for backpackers who do not sleep there.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can definitely get meals without staying there (same for all the HSC except Glen Aulin). However, their supply is limited and you need to contact them beforehand to arrange it. You will still need a wilderness permit. All the details are available on this page:

You can ask them about getting other kinds of food when you contact them.

They have a small restaurant, no shopping/grocery. Reservations required, since all food is packed in on mules.
