Not a big trip by any means, and let's face it a pretty simple hike in.
It was very, very smoky towards teh valley and very clear out towards Toulumne.
Temps in the 60's during the day, low 40's at night.
Had some great alpen glow on the Cathedral Range, and thought we would have an awesome sunset with lots of clouds and a smoky atmosphere. But we were very disappointed as we had a little color, then gray clouds. However we did have a very cool view of the glow from the fire by Glacier Point.
Monday morning the wind changed directions and the smoke was blowing away from Glacier and creating a very clear view.
had a decent rain Monday afternoon so hopefully it helped with the fires.
What amazed me is we were the only ones at May Lake overnight. Lots of day hikers, but no one staying overnight.
With the late snow melt, the wildflowers for a normal mid July/early August were blooming.
Got a chance to try out a Platypus Gravity Filter - Absolutely the most amazing water filter to date. We had 4 liters of water in 5 minutes and never pumped any of it.

Cool! Glad you made time to get out. There's a relatively new "trail" up to the top of Mt Hoffman from May Lake, if you REALLY want a view.
