I just read an interview with a climber that had come off the Waterfall route. He said that he could hear a hollow sound and feel more excessive than normal vibration when he hammered in anchors.

The thing that gets me with some of the news reports is that they seem surprised that the rest of the park is still open. Like the NPS is being irresponsible...just in case the other 120,000 acres might have some exfoliating faces too. They want us all to get upset and express outrage because we don't live in some perfectly sterile and fail-safe world, but boy do they get a lot of traction out of it when it's not. Damn nature for being so unpredictable and not getting with the program, or at least waiting until they can get a camera crew there to capture the tragedy.

Sadly, someone died and several people got hurt, but we're absolute nothings in the big scope of things. " Breaking news: Today, nature was asked how it felt about killing people. Nature replied: "So? I didn't see them as being particularly significant, and they were in the way."
