Did we just lose nearly 3 months of posts?

Looks that way---or at least misplaced for a while.

Wonder what happened. Did somebody hack this site?

Last night I couldn’t see the site at all, it was showing a php (?) error screen of some kind, so it’s possible it’s a server glitch. Hopefully there’s a backup somewhere, because there’s useful information in those vanished posts...

Yes--sorry about that! It's my fault.
I lost the recent backup of the database when setting up the backup of the database, of all things.
I recently moved to a cheaper cloud server and all went well, until now.

I will see if I can scrape archives from Google cache.

Lost posts for January-March 2018 restored

Postby dan » Sun Mar 18, 2018 1:41 pm

You are welcome.

Thanks for posting here and providing valuable information.

I hate to loose this stuff. I restored most of the missing posts from Jan. 7, 2018 to present, manually, using cached copies from Google (hint: just prepend "cache:" to the URL in the Google search box).

Any new logins after Jan. 7, 2018 have to be reregistered, but your posts are here.
