What type of climb/hike is it from Young Lakes to Mt. Conness? I'm only able to hike and would like to know how doable it is and if there is a trail/path marked well enough from YL.

There's a pretty worn use trail. You won't be the first. Call it mostly Class I up to the climb, then some Class II-III with some exposure up the summit. You'll need to use your hands, but nothing technical if you don't want it to be.

Looking back, I think I've only done three sections of Class II-III hiking with exposure in my 11 years of Sierras backpacking (all with my pack on), and I balked (along with my two buddies) on the final part of Conness hike last year (with only day pack). But we got all the way up to right near the top no problem, and it's fun and a great day adventure from Young Lakes, even though we were a little bummed we chickend out.

We had to cross some small snow areas, the one right near the top was fun.
