Camping at Cathedral lakes?

Does anyone know if overnight camping is allowed at either or both Cathedral lakes this year? I have permits for 9 days in August and would really like to camp near the lakes if allowed. I'm getting mixed messages by doing searches. Any help would be appreciated.

According to the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map (the same
one on display at the Wilderness Permit Stations), you are not
allowed to camp at the Lower Lake. Camping at the Upper Lake is
fine and dandy.
Was there late last year and there were ALOT of people camping at
the Upper Lake.
I would go with that assumption.
I've camped at both of the lakes and it's a shame that you cannot camp
at the lower one anymore. Mendicott Dome and the lake below it
is worth exploring.

Have fun

I stopped there a few days ago and saw three tents set up. I didn't overnight there this year. I camped at the lower lake last year. A ranger stopped by to check on back-country permits. He didn't say anything about the lake being off-limits to camping.

We just got back last week, there is camping allowed at both lakes....but no fires are permitted at either lake. The lower lake is BEAUTIFUL, you must hike out to the end of the lake and see the magnificent view of Tenaya Lake down below.
