Hey everyone,

I'm about 2 weeks out from a 5 night trip in the Vogelsang/Cathedral Range area of Yosemite, so it's about time to start looking at the weather forecasts. What sites and stations do y'all think are best for my location?

Thanks!

This page from Yosemite's site uses the weather service's forecasts, which are as good as anything else.

I agree w/robow8 that NOAA is great for weather (you can click on the map for forecasts in that area): https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=37.849920000000054&lon=-119.56766999999996#.X1F-n55Kg-U
I also like Windy.com for additional atmospheric conditions: https://www.windy.com/?37.699,-119.516,11
Alertwildfire.org for webcams, although not any good ones for Yosemite: http://www.alertwildfire.org/tahoe/inde ... &v=81e002f
Caltopo.com for maps and some terrestrial conditions: https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=37.6963 ... r&n=1,0.25

all the weather websites get their info from NOAA.

I like NOAA's click-to-zoom map to dial into a specific area.

Yeah, I use NOAA too. You can type in Yosemite and get the Valley. As AT says, from there go to the map and enlarge it. You can zoom down pretty tight and get fairly specific. Then move your cursor over your target area, click, and it will give you an adjusted and fairly accurate point forecast that accounts for location, altitude, etc.

You would probably be surprised by how much weather variation there can be within a short distance with everything considered.

Good to know. I never realized it was dialed in that precisely, although it's pretty obvious now that you mention it. Thanks!

Just when you thought things weather-related could hardly get worse: https://www.npr.org/2020/09/12/91230132 ... ed-at-noaa.
