Fruit on the way

One of the great delights of driving to the Sierra Nevada is passing through the Central Valley, with its many roadside stands of local produce. During the winter, most of these stands close down, or offer only a few vegetables. But during the summer the selection, quality, and pricing of the fruit is truly amazing. We've become addicted over the years.

And the good news is that in this early year, the fruit is back. We stopped at one of our favorite local stands near Escalon on Highway 120, and found fabulous cherries and delicious peaches, all for prices well below the grocery stores.

We love stopping at one of these stands, buying fruit, and then immediately making sure the quality is up to standard by biting into a peach, a cherry, or both. Or a handful of cherries. And one more.

You get the idea. Fruit is here. It's delicious.
