october route feasibility

Postby damu21 » Wed Aug 24, 2022 3:24 pm

which route is more feasibile for early october. been backpacking solo in yosemite a few times. im in decent shape aim for 10-15 miles per day and hopefulle will have 7 or so days to hike.

ten lakes-> glen aulin-> north up and around volunteer peak-> south down to tuolumne river back over to glen aulin-> back to ten lakes TH
i have hiked the ten lakes and loved it but never been north of glen aulin.

ive also been eyeing some kind of loop from maybe lyell canyon TH-> red peak area-> merced lake->????
have done sunrise lakes and clouds rest, have not been to that merced lake or red peak area at all. my off trail navigation is not great so i am worried about snow.

i did some hiking from hetch hetchy but would also be interested in a loop in that area. i sitll have some PTSD from those switchbacks up towards beehive/lake eleanor tho :D

thanks

Dan
