backpackers bus

Postby _Gabe_ » Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:48 pm

Hello all,

I have been looking for information on shuttle buses going from the valley floor to TM. A group of us are starting a hike on June 28, 2009 from TM down to the valley, so we are looking at leaving our cars down in the valley.

The only option I have found is a shuttle that leaves daily around 8:20 am from Yosemite Lodge.

Does this sound accurate?

Thanks,
Gabe

Guess noone wants to answer...

Well.. I never take the shuttle so I just looked at the website.
:)

It says 8:20 last year at the Lodge.

Even though it says it runs July-Sept. it looks like it ran June 6->
after Tioga Rd. opened on May 21 last year.

So I guess the bigger question right now is whether it will be running
when you want to use it.
From that info I would guess that it will be. But... alas... there is no
way to predict if more storms are coming and when everything
opens up.

Check the website, etc. mid-June... :)

You are sort of correct. The Hikers buss is the only designated public transportation that will stop where you want it to and pick you up where you want to be picked up.

BUT: LIf you want to go from the valley to touluomne meadows then try YARTS. Unfortunately their summer schedule is not published yet.

For me this sounds accurate. For a person to start backpacking is like opening the gates of heaven... Yosemite Valley is world famous for its impressive waterfalls, meadows, cliffs, and unusual rock formations. Best of luck and fun times to you all.

YARTS summer schedule is now posted. Here is the link:
http://www.yarts.com/schedule/2009/120hwy041809.pdf

Looks like the bus leaves Yosemite visitors center @ 5pm and gets to TM at 6:45 pm.

This is not a free bus. Check their web site for fees.

Have a great time.
