Trail conditions - Panorama and Clouds Rest

Postby mikecain3 » Mon May 11, 2009 12:33 pm

We are planning a trip for this weekend (May 14th - 17th). Starting point is Glacier Point and days 2, 3 and 4 will be spent back near LYV. We are hoping to get to Clouds Rest one of the days. Any word on the trail conditions?

I was just up on Clouds Rest on Friday.
Snow line is about 9000 ft. Top of Clouds was covered in snow.
You should be able to make it up there without too much issue tho.
I don't think there will be much snow on the Panorama Trail.
Just expect wet and muddy with maybe patches of snow.
If you go over Clouds it is 100% snow cover and easily 3ft of snow.

With that many days you should try to dayhike up to the bridges
at Lost Valley and perhaps beyond. The Merced is screaming right now.
Mosquitos are starting to hatch in that area so be prepared.
