5 day, 4 night backpack trip including half dome ideas?

Postby wanderingone » Sat May 16, 2009 6:51 pm

Hello-

I'm looking for route suggestions for a 4 night backpack trip including half dome. We're planning on June 26th to the 30th

There will be two of us and both are fairly fit. Not marathon runners, but we've done multi-day treks and know what walking all day is like.

We'll be driving in from San Francisco and will need to park somewhere overnight, with some sort of shuttle service back to the rig 5 days later.

Thanks very much!

When are you planning to go? How many people? How experienced/fit are you as a group? All considerations in planning a route - you could go from Cathedral Lakes trailhead, Sunrise, Tenaya Lakes, down the Rafferty drainage, start at Glacier Point... if you can get permits. Might pay to have a first, second, third and fourth choices. Four nights is plenty long to also do Clouds Rest and a side trip to Merced Lake. If you start at Happy Isles and hike up your first night will be Little Yosemite Valley, and from there the possibilities are many. You can get the YARTS from Tioga Road (several stops along the road at various trailheads) back down to the valley, or vice versa. Go to yarts dot com for a schedule and ticket prices.
