Hiking to Pohono Trailhead from Yosemite Valley?

Hello-

I was wondering if it's possible to walk from Yosemite Valley (Backpacker's parking lot) to Pohono Trailhead? I see several trail options, but the foot trail breaks near Hwy 41 before it gets to Tunnel View and Pohono Trailhead.

Is it ok/save to walk along the highway to pick up the trailhead across the streat and down the road?

We plan to do a 4-5 day packpack route along the south rim starting and ending at the backpacker's lot, and wondering if i'm planning an impassable route with the highway.

Thanks

Surprise suprise... I've done this loop... (it can be done in 2 days... ;) )

You only have to walk on 41 for about 1/3 of a mile after Bridalveil.
Stay on 41 facing traffic and keep your eyes open for the old
road which will take you up to Artist Pt. and connect with the trail
to Inspiration Pt. and Wawona Tunnel.
(Assuming you do it counter-clockwise)
(If you do it clockwise... then you'll run into the old road on your
way down from Insp. Pt.... just turn right ...)

When I did it with a buddy we parked at Wawona Tunnel to start the trip.
(if you can do it before GP road opens ... which looks less and less
likely now that they are opening it earlier and earlier... then you
get almost the entire trail to yourself...)

Have fun
