Advice on trails between Echo Creek and Clouds Rest

Postby yosemiteken » Sat Jul 25, 2009 8:11 am

Recently returned from a trip from TM to Valley via Vogelsang and Merced Lake and LYV (with day hike to HD). I am planning a 6-7 day trip from TM to the Valley via Cathedral Lakes, and Clouds Rest. We must also include a day hike to HD. In order to add length and take a less traveled route, I was considering the following:

Day 1 - TM to Cathedral Lakes
2 - Explore CL area (optional)
3 - CL to Sunrise HSC area
4 - Sunrise to Echo Creek/Merced river junction area
5 - Echo Creek/Merced river junction area to Clouds Rest and then hike down toward the junction of Sunrise Creek (toward HD).
6 - Day hike to HD
7 - Hike down to Valley

Anyone hike the trails between the Echo Creek/Merced river junction to Clouds Rest? Suggestions on best places to camp around Sunrise HSC, Clouds Rest, and Sunrise Creek areas?

I would appreciate any other suggestions as well. Thanks
