Renting bear canisters and getting permit.

Postby xcorat » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:14 pm

I have a couple of simple questions.

1. Where can I rent bear canisters in yosemite. near tuolumne meadows?

2. Im coming from south (41) and visiting tuolumne meadows or porcupine flats camps. So what ranger station will be the earliest and easiest to acquire my wilderness permit? I want to start the hike as early as possible, but cant get there the day before...!!

Any Wilderness Permit Station in Yose rents cans.

Wawona is the first one you will run across on 41. It's right next to the
Hotel.... That one opens at 8am. If you are coming very early
then I'd continue on to the valley and get it there. Since you are
starting at May (you should not have a problem getting a permit)
get it at Wawona or the Valley ... not Tuolumne... that will just cost
you more time...

Just be aware that it can take a long time to get the permit...
Probably not too bad for u since you are getting it on Tues...

What I was wondering was, say if I com to the valley at around 6am, wouldnt that be easier to get to tuolumne and get the permit, so I can start the hike as early as possible??

i think im startin to get a pain in the butt, BUT PLS, answer this q. as well...
