questions from a brazilian guy

Postby racgeral » Sat Feb 06, 2016 3:36 pm

Hi

I'm brazilian (sorry for my English) and I'm going to Yosemite on 15 April 2016 with my family. I have some questions. Could you guys help me?

1) Is cheaper to buy some groceries to the breakfast in Mariposa than in Yosemite?
2) I guess the check-in time in Yosemite will be at 22:00hs . Is it recommended have a dinner in another city than in Yosemite?
3) Brazil does not has bears. I'm afraid of bears. I'm thinking to use whistle and a "kids air horn pump" (sorry, I don't know how to say in English but it's a toy - LOL) if I see a bear. it works?

Later I will send more questions about hiking to this great forum

Thanks a lot

Rogario,

1) Groceries in Mariposa are cheaper and you have more choices than in Yosemite.
2) Nothing is open for dinner at 22:00 hours, except for some food at the bar. So, yes, plan to eat earlier.
3) Bears in Yosemite are Black Bears. They will not hurt you if you just stay away from them. They are usually just seen at night looking for food.

Thanks, Dan!

I want to see a bear but far away from me. I don't know what would be my reaction if I see a bear near me.
Could you inform a place to buy groceries and to dinner before check-in in Yosemite?

Thanks
Rogerio
