Camping in June

Postby bellztollr » Wed Feb 04, 2009 10:41 am

Hi thanks for the site, sorry if I didn't see this answered elsewhere.

I'm planning a trip for June 21-28, 2009. I'll be making Valley camping reservations for the middle of the week, but don't want to stay there the entire time.

I have two questions:
1. Would most campgrounds likely be open by that point? I'm specifically hoping for Bridalveil, Crane Flat or White Wolf (much prefer a spot with tap water).

2. If they are open, what would be the odds of getting a spot in Bridalveil on a Sunday night, then Crane or White Wolf for Thur-Sat?

Thanks for any advice.

Crane Flat, but no guarantees. Bridalveil and White Wolf open in mid-June and sometimes not until late June or early July. With this year's snowpack, I doubt if they will open after June.

Weekends are tough. Monday morning is a better bet. Why not get a reservation for Bridalveil? They are about to open up reservations for late June. See

Thanks for the thoughts. Everything I've seen has shown the approximate dates of July-Sept for most camping, so I was trying for your expertise on the late June date.

I don't see how I can get a reservation for Bridalveil. The only sites I see reservable are group or horse; I'm looking for just a typical tent.

That's because they are all taken. But if you reserve for late June when the reservations become available, you too can get a normal (non-group, non-horse) campground.

Thanks a bunch. I'll try to go that route then.

Bridalveil is first-come first-served. No reservations.

This is also the case for these campgrounds:
Camp 4 (Yosemite Valley)
Bridalveil Creek
Tamarack Flat
White Wolf
Yosemite Creek
Porcupine Flat
Tuolumne Meadows (I think)

TM and Crane Flat at 50% reserve, 50% first-come.
