Hetch Hetchy - Rancheria Falls through to Glen Aulin

Postby farmerchlo » Tue Sep 13, 2016 3:13 pm

Hi all,

I'm planning a (my first ever!) solo trip from the Hetch Hetchy Backpacker's camp toward Rancheria Mountain through to Glen Aulin via Pleasant Valley--hoping to get a permit for next week. There seem to be zero posts anywhere on the web about this trail (other than the hundreds on the Hetch Hetchy Loop, which pop up due to mention of Rancheria). Has anyone gone this route? I'm most concerned about current water access past Pate as, even though the trail follows the GCT, the Tuolumne River I'm pretty sure is out of reach.

Thanks in advance for your advice :D

From Pate up to Glen Aulin, water won't be a problem. You do have access to the river there at regular intervals.

But that long climb up and over Rancheria Mountain is another question. While it won't be as hot as it is in summer, that's a long dry climb from Rancheria to Pleasant Valley.
