Pohono Trail to Panoramic Trail

Postby anushamac » Thu Jun 22, 2017 3:18 pm

We are planning a backpacking trip 6/30 - 7/2 from Tunnel View, taking Pohono trail to Glacier Point, and then Panoramic Trail down to the valley over 2 nights. I'm worried about the snow cover from this year on Pohono trail. Has anyone been up there recently? How's the boot pack? Do we need snow shoes? How's the trail? I'm a little worried about getting lost. How are the river crossings?

OK--your trip is below 8,000 feet, and there won't be much snow there now. You do realize that there are very limited camping spots between tunnel view and Glacier Point---in fact, only Bridalveil Creek. (there's a bridge, so don't sweat the crossing.)

You can't camp at Glacier Point or anywhere between that and Little Yosemite Valley, unless you hike up Illilouette Creek for a ways...

Not an ideal itinerary for a backpacking trip, as most people do those specific trails as dayhikes. These are among the most popular trails in Yosemite,. You won't get lost.

We have reports on some of them on our website...in my signature line,.
