Moraine Dome

Postby Bighead » Thu Jun 22, 2017 3:07 pm

Just curious if anyone has spent the night on Moraine Dome? Looking at maps and google earth it's an easy dome to reach and access and I'm thinking it might be a fun spot to spend the night during our trip. It appears to have some pretty nice views, not far from water, and I'm guessing mosquitoes would be a little better.

I haven't done that...but anything you can do to limit mosquitoes is a good thing. They do find their way to you, wherever you are, though. I've seen clouds of them at 10,000 at least two miles from the nearest water.

You'd just want to stash the bear can where it wouldn't roll off the dome - that would mean hiking it back a ways. It's a neat dome, but I'd rather have a campsite, and I don't think it would make a big difference in skeeters.
