You should see what these guys recommend on their website and over the phone: https://tahoerimtrail.org/

You could do some amazing section hikes all around Tahoe. You'll want to be very aware of avalanche conditions in many areas though. Probably want to carry the full complement of electronic devices: PLB, avalanche beacon, maybe even a sat phone.
