Yosemite is open!

During the federal government shutdown, Yosemite is open and concessions are operating normally. Roads normally open in winter remain open, conditions permitting. Many National Park Service facilities are closed. If you have an emergency, call 911.

We went snowshoeing over the weekend. Unfortunately people are breaking rules rampantly. Lots of dogs, plastic sleds, and other forbidden shenanigans. They could think about the fact that following rules protects the park, but why do that when you can get away with everything and anything?

Sad to hear people are taking advantage of the low enforcement presence. That's the kind of thing that leads to them closing down the park the next time this happens. Or maybe even this time if it the shutdown doesn't end soon.

I'm possibly heading over there for a 4 day weekend for the New Year, hopefully they don't close the park and I don't have problems due to someone's stupidity.
