We're planning a horsepacking trip in to be dropped up on Moraine Ridge and dry camp the first night, but after that we're open to suggestions. None of us have been out that way past Brannigan and we have a good 6 or 7 nights, so any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

My suggestion is bin the horses... :)
Dang, I hate horses on the trail. Rip the crap out o the trail.
Crap all over the trail. Huge #1 reason why I avoid Emigrant.
If I wanted to walk thru loads o crap I'd... visit a barn... ??

Ok, now that I got THAT off my chest... :)

You coulda probably guessed it but... yes, I've been to Miwok,
and Ardeth, and Mahan, and Andrews, and all the Branigans, and
Avonelle.. and...

I've mentioned it before but... one of my favorite places in the park
is Jack Main Canyon. Since you really have alot of time I would
suggest that you go into Jack Main and just follow the trail...
I'd minimally suggest you go up Jack Main to at least Wilma.
With that much time if it were me I would go all the way to Dorothy,
over Dorothy Lake Pass, past Ruth and Helen... over to Tower Lake...
and back into the Park at Tower Pass.
I'd run up Tower Peak... then come back down to Tower Pass and go past
Mary and then follow the use trail all the way to Tilden.
From Tilden you have some options but depending on the conditions
I'd either drop back into Jack Main or if Falls Creek is roaring...
I'd go all the way past Tiltill Mtn and out past Tiltill Valley and Rancheria.

From what you said this is my recommendation knowing that you
like some xcountry stuff. If you really want I can probably write
something about all of those lakes.

Believe me Sir, I hear you on the horses. However, when you are on the other end, riding in on them, it is tough to say no. Thanks for the advice. I'll drop you an email in the next couple of days. Thanks again Bill.
