Will be in Yosemite in mid/late July. I'll do the big day hikes from the valley, and some climbing, but also looking for a great backcountry trail.

I've done a trips out west before - Olympia, ranier, teton, but yosemite doesn't have big snowcapped peaks like that to summit right? I'm into views, strenuous but not totally insane, and as few people as possible.

Suggestions? Could possible do two different loops. (Loops only please!)

Yosemite doesn't have snow capped peaks? I'd suggest climbing either Connness or Dana out of Tuolumne Meadows--those should each change your mind about that.

Check out some of the previous discussions here for a wide range of backcountry trips...Young Lakes and Mt. Conness might give you just what you are looking for.

balzaccom is right.

That was gonna be my suggestion too.
But solitude in Yosemite may be hard to find in July. You have to work for it.

If you want some good stuff with some huge reward try Young Lakes
and go up Conness... then come back to Young and xcountry over to
Roosevelt and then over to Upper McCabe. From there you can
try going up Shepherd Crest and then xcountry over to Middle and
Lower McCabe and back on the trail following it back thru
Cold Canyon and Glen Aulin back to Tuolumne Meadows.
There are other peaks in the area you can climb... Ragged,
Sheep, North...
I personally have only been up Conness. And I went thru the notch
up from Middle McCabe to Roosevelt. Upper and Middle McCabe
do not have fish in them.. Lower does. (they erradicated the fish
from Middle McCabe... they may still be working on that if you
go by it...)

This stuff is not really for the beginner.... so the usual disclaimer
of know what YOU can do and always be safe. If you are not
comfortable then turn around... Many of the peaks are class 2
with some exposure.
Know your group limits and don't pressure people into doing
something if they don't feel safe... blah blah blah
