Rock island Lake

Postby NancyJ » Thu Oct 08, 2020 9:38 pm

We are thinking about entering Robinson creek TH, hiking via Crown Lake to Snow Lake then leaving the trail and traversIng up to Rock Island Lake. Anyone have good info on the best way to do this? Then we are hoping to descend to Benson Lake. Is that possible class 2 , easy class 3. Or no go

Sorry you are not getting answers here, Nancy. I've done some hiking in that area, but not down to Rock island lake. From the topo map, that looks doable, particularly is you hike the trail part way and then go over the saddle, rather than trying to go direct, or contouring over.

But from Rock Island down to Benson, I have no idea.

thanks for your reply...I was thinking that we would continue past Snow Lake before heading up. I've been there before but don't remember exactly what that climb looks like up to RIL. I'm going to call the Yosemite Ranger station too and see if they have any good info. Thanks again...
