We are Planning a seven day trip to Yosemite soon after Labor Day, 2003. We need to know the average daily temps in the park in September. Which water falls will be active around that time? Also, recommendations for some moderate to strenous day hikes.

thanks

Frank

See http://yosemite.ca.us/faq.html#climate

Most waterfalls are pretty low by September. Vernal and Nevada falls usually have the most water. It's a 1 mile hike up a sometimes steep trail to get to the first viewpoint for Vernal, and a further hike to see Nevada Falls.

Other hikes are the Yosemite Falls trail and the hike between Glacier Point and the Valley (Four Mile Trail).

If you have time, see the high country in Tuolumne. Lots of trails. I recommend the hike to Glen Aulin, California Falls, and Waterwheel Falls.

Waterfalls will be low in September. However, as the previous writer said, don't miss Tuolumne Meadows...starts getting a little chilly up there at times so make sure you have a jacket. Vernal falls is a good day hike in the Valley. Just have fun!
