Park Pass

If we plan on driving through Yosemite on route 120 from the west to the 395, do we still need to buy a Park pass?

Can one buy a daily pass in the Park?

It's $20 to drive through the entrance during open hours. If you plan it to go through AND exit when the kiosks are closed, then you can get away without paying.

The $20 pass is good for seven days. There is a $40 annual Yosemite pass, and the $80 interagency pass good for all national parks, some BLM and some other properties/purposes...

I think most people who regularly go back and forth over Tioga end up with an annual pass, since it pays for itself in a couple trips.

What time would the kiosks be opened in mid-August, especially on weekends?

Here's our dilemma...

- we plan on driving through Yosemite NP on a Sunday from west of the Park to Mammoth Lakes for backpacking for a few days

- on Thursday, we plan on being in Yosemite NP for a few days

- sometime on Sunday, we leave the Park

So, from my understanding, when we enter the Park on the Sunday, we purchase a weekly pass for $20. Is it good to the following Saturday or Sunday? If Saturday, then do we need to buy an extra weekly pass for one day or can you buy a daily permit?

There is no daily permit. There is a seven day pass, and two kinds of annual pass. If you buy the seven day it will be good until the seventh day. On the eighth day you would need to purchase another pass.

Kiosks are open during the day. I've driven through after 10 and before 6 and seen them closed, but then they will want to see your receipt or pass on your way out another gate, and will catch you there - unless you leave the park when the kiosks are closed, as well.

Ok, thanks for the info. Bummer that daily permits aren't sold. Hate to fork out another $20 for one day.
