Half Dome in November

Postby wosunshine » Thu Jul 28, 2011 12:08 am

If you are athletic, but realistically hold a history of sporadic clumsiness, is Half Dome worth the risk in November?

(I'm not a bumbling mess, I just remember taking a hard fall backpacking while backpacking in rainy weather in Torres del Paine and understand that some places' warnings about slippery rocks could be a myth and other places' warnings could be life saving.)

Ideally, I would like to hike earlier (hint to anyone who has weekend permits in the safer months.)

Thanks.

If it's icy and snowy probably not. If you're afraid of heights, steep exposed slopes, and don't like walking on slick granite, probably not. Then again, I don't think it's worth the risk when it's raining in summer.
