seeking current info on Tuolumne Meadows

I will be up in Tuolumne Meadows next week and was wondering if anyone has info on how the weather has been, water levels, animal (esp. bear) activity and if wildflowers have hit their peak.

I was there last week and just returned home yesterday. The weather has been sunny, hot and clear. Mosquitoes are less than last month but still around. Saw one bear in the campground. Lots of smoke in the air the last few days from smoke (Half Dome not visible from Olmstead Point!)

I'm headed up next week ... anyone back and care to report on Skeetergate 2011?

Visibility due to smoke?

Appreciate any highlights as well.

We camped in Tuolumne Meadows Aug. 16-22. The skeeters were quite active, particularly along the river towards Lyell Canyon. Fortunately, I came home with fewer than 10 bites. Be prepared for the very chilly nites (30's for us). Enjoy!
